Lane & Judie - Yakima Valley Hand-Crafted Stories

Lane & Judie

Lane and Judie are frequent visitors to our Yakima Valley wineries. Both Yakima locals, they spend their weekends exploring Cowiche Canyon with their grandkids, and wiling away the weekend on the sunny slopes of the Naches Heights AVA.

TELL US ABOUT YOURSELVES.

Judie and I have grown up here, and we’ve been together for 38 years now. One of the things that’s important to us is having fun together, and creating memories that we can share with our kids and grandkids. That’s why we come up to Naches Heights so often.

WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN YOU’RE UP THERE?

We always go hiking with our grandkids in Cowiche Canyon. It’s only ten minutes away from town, so it’s really easy to come up here on a whim. We just walk up through the vineyards and go exploring. It’s always beautiful coming up to watch the grapes ripen. And once you get here, there’s always wonderful food, wonderful wine and wonderful music going on.

WHAT HAS CHANGED ABOUT THE YAKIMA VALLEY IN RECENT YEARS?

This Valley has blossomed. It’s grown from what used to be tree fruit-dominate agriculture, to an area with a lot of diversity. Now, there are wineries on every corner. That makes the Valley, and coming to visit Yakima, a very fun experience.
