Al & Marcy - Yakima Valley Hand-Crafted Stories

Al & Marcy

Al and Marcy are life-long residents of the Yakima Valley, and you can usually find them hanging out at one of our local breweries after their weekly soccer game. Between balancing work, sports and family, they still find the time to get out and explore the Yakima Valley’s craft beer scene.

WHAT DO YOU ENJOY MOST ABOUT THE YAKIMA VALLEY’S CRAFT BEER SCENE?

We have such a great variety of local beers here. We’ve tried to get out and taste as many as we can, and we’ve discovered that we really prefer our local beers over the big brands now. It’s a lot of fun to get out and try the new beers our brewers are always putting out.

WHAT MAKES YAKIMA’S CRAFT BEER SCENE DIFFERENT FROM OTHER PLACES?

It’s one of the few places where you can go and have a beer and actually see the hops that they made the beer with right next to you. And it’s great that it is family-friendly.

WHAT WAS IT LIKE GROWING UP AROUND SO MANY HOPS?

We’ve smelled the hops growing here our entire lives and didn’t really think much of it. But now, as adults, we realize what our hops actually do and how great it is to have them here in our community. It’s a luxury to have something so special right here in the Yakima Valley, that not very many other places in the world have.
